OBJECTIVES:

Objective One:

To create awareness about Prevention of HIV/AIDs, and Community Based Care for persons living HIV/AIDS.

Justification:

Prevention of HIV/AIDS and Community Based Care for persons living with AIDS requires a lot of community participation so there is need to mobilise the community to accept the strategy.

Objective Two:

Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission. (PMTCT)

Justification:

Preventive measures will be implemented to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDs. There is need for PLWA to receive care and service within their environment. This will reduce the stigma and PLWA will remain productive and contributing to the community.

To obtain baseline data on Prevalence

Objective Three:

Treatment and care.

Justification

To improve the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Objective Four

To initiate and sustain social and economic rehabilitation services to families having people living with HIV/AIDS.

Justification:

As infection progresses to disease, PLWA's ability to perform gainful activities reduce yet the need to the community increases. There is need to economically rehabilitate these homes.

Objective Five:

To train care takers of PLWA on infection control while providing home care.

Justification:

Due to frequent control during care provision to PLWA there can be risk of cross infection.

Objective Six:

To initiate and sustain community based rehabilitation services.

Justification:

The terminally ill and those who may need prolonged stay in bed may get disabilities.

So the need rehabilitative services such as passive/active exercise.

Objective Seven:

Initiating day care centers for PLWA at Health Centre three levels.

Justification:

There is need for PLWA to have regular check ups and this also provides the spirit of feeling togetherness and a feeling of belonging.
